Letterkenny draw with Newry.

A 15 all draw was probably a fair result based on a second half where both packs fought it out in midfield. The Letterkenny backrow of Browne, Herron and Scott were the stand out unit on display. Both teams scored a converted try to add to the 8 - 8 half time score. Newry were first to score with a very well worked back line move started when their winger gathered a stray kick at speed with his full back in support. A nice switch allowed the full back to put his right winger in under the posts. Letterkenny responded very well and sustained forward pressure resulted in a penalty lineout 15m from the newery line. A good take by Mortimer and excellent driving maull saw Stephen Holmes burrow over for a well deserved try converted by Ryan Mortimer. Letterkenny finished the stronger but were unable to work a winning score. The aforementioned back row of Browne, Herron and Scott were outstanding with Brian McGinley the pick of the backline.
