Letterkenny finally come good against Civil Service

Forward dominance and better defence set up 'kenny for first win

Letterkenny started this game with much hope but soon found that Civil Service had not come to make up numbers. Despite dominance in the tight phases, Civil Service played the better rugby for much of the first half and went into the break leading by 10-7 with Letterkenny success only getting a penalty try as a result of the forward power.
Coach Kevin Arenhold told a few home truths at half time and the boys responded with a greatly improved 2nd half. Ciaran Clarke scored first in a typically strong performance. Liam Fogarty and Dave Brown also scored in a great second half for ‘Kenny. Flying winger Liam Fogarty scored a try courtesy of outstanding vision and an outrageous pass from out half Peter Scott! Winning of the game came when Letterkenny simplified what they were trying to do and played to the strength of their pack. Some great carries and hard work from the ever industrious pack! Also of importance was a better defensive display in the second half, as Civil Service failed to add to their score.
With a couple of players to return and all players responding weekly to new coach Kevin Arenhold, the squad will look to build on this in the matches to come.
