Letterkenny U11s play great rugby and enjoy their match in Strabane
By Letterkenny Rugby
Great team performance and hard work from the Letterkenny players
At the Melvin Sports Centre in Strabane, Letterkenny Minis travelled in force to play against local neighbours Strabane RFC.
In a great sporting match the Letterkenny Under 11s locked horns with local rivals Strabane RFC.
The forwards started off with great enthusiasm and energy lead by Noah Johnston who was his usual competitive self at the tackle area, driving hard and stealing loads of possession. Props Seosamh Coyle and Kieran Dickson played very well and made some powerful runs assisted by Jack Hayes and Jack King who did great work in rucking over the ball and winning possession. Jarrod Arenhold and Stephen Coll both played very well with Jarrod scoring an excellent try and made several hard low tackles. In the backs Connor Kenna had a great game with his pass becoming stronger and more confident every week. Connor also tackled very well in defence. Ciaran Connaghan played a fantastic game at flyhalf, using his pace and sidestep to beat many defenders and score a hatrick of tries and also tackled well in defence. Ciaran Burke played well at centre and his sidestepping and pace beat several defenders and Elliot Scott also played well on the wing and at hooker when asked to and was also brave in the tackle. Jakob Pruska had a great first game and ran well with the ball and made some intelligent passes.
Overall a great performance and about 6 tries to each side with lost of fun despite the cold weather and the hail shower.
Thanks go to Strabane RFC for the match, the sausage rolls and the hospitality. Thanks also to the great support from the Letterkenny Mini parents - out in force as usual.
Training next week at the club as usual - Saturday 9.30am (no Monday training this week due to bank holiday and half term.
Keep practicing your passing whenever you get the chance!!
