Limavady u15 v Letterkenny u15

Great First Game for the Letterkenny Girls

LETTERKENNY GO DOWN IN NARROW DEFEAT
Letterkenny U-15 lost narrowly to an experienced Limavady team, in their first ever competitive match.
It started off very well as centre Mia Alcorn, cut through the Limavady defence after good work by Tara Duffy and scrumhalf Sarah McBrearty and dotted down over the line. The roesiders came back and using their experience and kenny's inexperience scored 5 tries before Mia alcorn again found space on the outside afteer a break from Mary Beth McBrearty to score in the corner. Limavady scored two more before the interval to leave the score 10-35.
Most teams would have packed it in with this score, but skippers Mary Beth McBrearty and Emma Curran gave an inspiring team talk at half-time and the home team came out, ready to fight again. Almost immediately Limavady scored again, but this was not the end but just the beginning. First, Aoife O'Riordan charged through scoring in the corner after great rucking by Jade Duffy, Amy McClintock and Yasmin Sparks.
Then Sara Bundschu had a couple of brilliant runs followed by a great try where she beat four players before scoring after a pass from Chloe Wasson.
Mia Alcorn who was playing a blinder, especially with the number of tackles she made. Then showed why the Ulster selectors are so interested in her when she scored another Great try when she dummied her opposing centre and used her speed to get to the line. After an excellent run by Yasmin Sparks, Mia finished the job again. Emma Curran made her mark on the game with a weaving run before setting up Alcorn again. Limavady came back again as a couple of injuries to key players hampered letterkenny, scoring two more tries despite great tackling by the Duffys and Allanah Boyle to open the gap again.
Alcorn came on the scene again to score again when Allanah Boyle beat three players in an exciting run and unselfisly passed to her better placed colleague to score. Unfortunatly with players tiring the visitors scored two more tries. Kelly Higgins then beat two players and stormed over the line after great tackling by Amy McClintock. Alcorn finished off a great performance when scoring the last try after a good passing movement by the two saras, Bundeschu and McBrearty
Final Score; LETTERKENNY 50-60 LIMAVADY
What a performance ….for a first ever game of competive rugby, this was an eye opener for some players, others took in their stride, but it is amazing how some players can lift their game when the need is there. After a couple more games to sort out a few little unforseen problems this team will be ready for anybody.
This week the team travel to Limavady for a 7.30 Start
on Friday night 13th November under flood lights, leaving Tobins at 5.45
Training is going well at the Glebe and I would remind anyone interested in starting rugby, that you are more than welcome, don't worry we'll tech you how to play. We need more U-15s and U-18s as the numbers are there to start an U-18 team
