Letterkenny go through to League Final against a strong Carrickfergus pack

The pressure of the semis was definitely showing before the game with a very quiet changing room. Having no idea how Carrickfergus played we had spoken about the importance of sticking to our game plan.
The game started well for our lads with Carrick knocking on off the kickoff but from there we lost our way a bit. After a few big hits Letterkenny seemed to forget what we each needed to do making it very disjointed. Too many boys went on individual runs making unnecessary contact which often ended in us losing the ball. Defensively we were outstanding and kept us ontop which led to the first points from a penalty by David Henry. Soon afterwards Cillian Boyle went over for a try followed by an outstanding individual try by David Henry which he converted. 15-0.
To Carricks credit they came back at us really hard for the rest of the half but the boys kept the pressure on in defence forcing mistakes by Carrickfergus.
In the 2nd half Carrickfergus came out strong and Letterkenny seemed to lose their discipline giving away penalty after penalty until there was talk of a penalty try. Carrickfergus finally made the pressure count to go over for a try which they converted. The pressure was now on and seemed to be what Letterkenny needed. Suddenly we started to move the ball around and once we did there was no stopping us. We controlled the game and Carrickfergus were just chasing the ball around the field. We started to threaten their line and finally Ultan McGuinness, in his first game of the season, went over for a try in the corner. Now, the real Letterkenny was back and straight away dominated the play with some very dominant runs by David Illie, Fynn Duffy, Tiernan McFadden and Matthew Gibson and some huge tackles from Connor Gibson!! The positive play was rewarded with an amazing team try to finish the game off. Final score 27-7.
Well done to everyone again. We got tested today more than any other game and we came through it. This is our title to lose guys. Trust in each other and the gameplan and let's really show what we can do in the final.

Men of the match- Ewan Douglas for some dominating runs and Ryan Orsi for dominating the line outs and some huge defence.
