Letterkenny under 16 colts made the difficult journey to Ballymena on Friday to play under lights. Although under the cosh for a lot of the game the score wasn't a reflection on a positve and hard fought game by this development side. In the first half there was some excellent defensive work by David Henry, Jayden Friel and Bredan O'Donnell. While Calum Orsi made some fantastic line breaks in offense. Letterkenny turned at half time 29-0 down and only for some resilient ballymena defense were unlucky not to score. The second half Letterkenny knuckled down and grew more into the game as it went on. With 5 mins to go a great carry in the 22 from Alex McDermott brought play close to the Ballymena line. Great rucking from Conal Boyle and Jack Gibbons gave a clearance for Emmet Gillespie to pick up and go over. The try was just reward for the lads who worked tiredlessly all day. There were super displays from Dylan Coyle, Odhran Finn, Daithi Doherty and Eoin Harris giving serious headaches for selection for the coaching team.
