The match kicked off on a damp morning in Letterkenny with both sides going at it hard from the off, however Letterkenny were on the back foot for the first 10 mins and could not prevent Inishowen from crossing the line on the 10 minute mark.
With the wind in their sails Inishowen pushed Letterkenny around the field and managed to double their score to 14-0 after 20 mins.
Then after the kick off as Letterkenny tried to get a foot hold in enemy territory a looping pass out the line was intercepted by Inishowen and they again crossed the line under the posts to make it 21-0 with a min left on the clock. From the KO Letterkenny charged up the field and managed to turn the ball over and get it out the back line where Mark McDaid took hold of the ball and ran from the 10 meter line to score Letterkenny's first try, conversion was missed so at HT the score stood at 21-5.

The half time talk from the coaches was stern and firm, and Letterkenny took the field for the second half with new belief. They were getting stuck in from the off and making all the tackles that were few and far between in the first half.
Dean Callaghan was first to strike when he burst over the line to score early in the second half and the conversion was successful from the boot of Steven McDaid. 21-12.
Letterkenny piled on the pressure in the second half and managed another try from Steven McDaid assisted by the hard work from the pack, which again he converted. 21-19.

Letterkenny continued to play the game in Inishowen's half for the remainder of the game and crossed the line a further 3 times but all tries were unfortunately disallowed. The second half performance from every man was great to see and they did themselves proud and were very unlucky not to have won the match.
