After the previous weekend’s defeat to Virginia, Letterkenny were determined to respond. They made a flying start with two well-worked tries in the opening 20 minutes, but Coleraine worked their way back into the match. Two penalties and a try left Letterkenny holding a narrow 14–13 lead at half-time.

The contest remained tight after the restart, with both teams adding a try in the opening stages of the second half. Letterkenny then produced some of their best rugby of the season. Their fitness and training ground moves came to the fore in the final 15 minutes as they scored three further tries to pull clear.

The 42–18 result was a strong team performance and gives the squad plenty of momentum ahead of next weekend’s trip to County Down to face Banbridge.

Player of the Match went to second row Carl Keane-Hagemayer for a terrific contribution.
