The two top teams in Donegal faced off in their annual Gordon West Cup meeting with the Letterkenny men making the journey down to the scenic Holmes pitch. Despite a weather warning it remained dry but with a strong wind. The first half started with Kenny putting on the pressure. The pack led by prop Digimas dominated in every area from the breakdown to scrums not giving an inch to Donegal Town. Once the ball got out to the backs, Captain Andrew Gibson and the rest of the backs were easily able to break the line. This led to a series of unanswered tries from McGinley, Digimas, McFadden, Cassidy, McNichol, Foy, McGlynn and Rae Clarke. With the wind so strong Bryan McGinley did well to convert 3 of these tries. Half time score 46 - 0 to Kenny.
Donegal Town defended better in the 2nd half but there was another breakthrough try from Colm McNichol early on. Donegal responded with a well worked try after pressure from their pack. Two more tries from Bryan McGinley and Gary Canning both converted by McGinley saw the game finish with a huge win to Letterkenny and a quarter final spot secure. Final score 65-7 to Letterkenny.
