Letterkenny travelled to Monaghan with a lot of familiar faces missing but they were still able to field a strong team which showed the strength and depth of this squad. Unfortunately due to a disruption along the journey letterkenny were only able to field 14 men. This didn't stop them putting in a strong performance with captain Andrew Gibson leading the way with an early try. It was a tight game after that with Monaghan eventually hitting back with a try of their own. The last quarter though was dominated by Kenny with a penalty kicked over by McGinley and another try this time from John Anthony McFadden sealing the win. Final score 17-8 to Letterkenny.
This win sets Letterkenny up nicely in both the league and the cup and it should be a very good season for them. Stand out performances on the day were from McGlynn, Morris and Gibson at out half.
