In an almost complete opposite pattern to last week’s performance, Letterkenny were out of the trap early against Holywood and raced to a 17-5 lead at half time. Superb skills - cross field kick by out half Peter Scott, resulted in great try by winger Daragh McConnell. Not be denied on the other wing John Anthony McFadden went in for a score also converted by Peter Scott. Half time 17-5.
Unfortunately Letterkenny slipped badly in the second half with a combination of defensive lapses letting Holywood back into the game to finally win by 17-29.
Letterkenny have shown they can play and score good tries in both games, but defence has let them down at crucial times. This can be put right, but will require a performance for 80 mins and not just for a half. Both these matches were winnable, and there is still great optimism in the players and coaches and management that this will click very soon.
