Letterkenny Seniors started this game surprisingly well and dominated possession and territory for 15 minutes, but without making a decisive break. Unfortunately, Virgina then took control in dramatic style running in several tries in a dispiriting first half for Letterkenny as the defence was severely tested. A half time score of 35 - 5 was close to being a disaster. The Letterkenny lads then regrouped at half time and put in a superb rearguard action to win the second half by 19 points to 3, although this was not enough to catch the Virginia men. The Letterkenny team and coach Kevin Arenhold will take comfort from the comeback and also that all games are exciting and high scoring occasions.
Next week will give Letterkenny an opportunity to turn things around when they play Civil Service RFC in Dave Gallagher Park.
With some players to return to the team and players training well in the squad sessions, it is only a matter of time before this team puts two halves of good rugby together.
All support welcome this Saturday 29th September to cheer on our team to get a victory - 2.30pm kick off.
