Letterkenny u18s played Ballymoney in a top of the table clash at home today. In possibly our best start of the season we took the game to Ballymoney from the kickoff.
The boys ran the ball through the hands through multiple phases but were held out by a strong Ballymoney team. We finally got over for the first try which then seemed to break the deadlock for a while and we ran in 2 more quick tries.
The hands and understanding from the backs and forwards when to move the ball wide was outstanding ably led by David Henry and Dylan Coyle.
All the forwards carried well to give the team good go forward ball.
Once again defensively the boys were unbelievable. Hits from Jayden Friel, Jack Gibbons, Ryan Orsi, Finn Duffy, David Henry and Cillian Boyle will leave Ballymoney with nightmares for a long time.
In the second half Ballymoney started to take some control in the scrum which made it hard to get clean ball but we stepped up again and started to hold our own before taking control of the game and scoring a few more quick tries. We were starting to run away with the game when the Ballymoney fullback injured his neck and the game had to be called off.
The game ended 31-5 with Letterkenny scoring another 5 tries and as complete a game as possible.
Other players who deserve a mention are Jynaid Rayes and Matthew Gibson but everyone was amazing today.
Well done guys. Once again you are on top where you belong.
Really just hoping that the Ballymoney player is OK and wish him a speedy recovery
Our Man of the Match: Ryan Orsi, he plays as a man possessed today!
