Letterkenny started there League campaign against a strong looking coleraine team, but letterkenny started the best of the two teams.
Within 2 minutes Letterkenny were in coleraine's half where they were to stay for 20 minutes. With good passing letterkenny went from one side of the pitch to the other with some good runs from Mya, Charlie, James, Adam, Eddie, Conor, Rory, Eddie and Fabio.
As the first half went on Letterkenny fought hard in the rucks and scrums winning a lot of them but still had not scored yet.
15 minutes into the 1st half Letterkenny got a free inside Coleraine's 22m with quick tap and go, Rory made some ground only to be stopped 2 meters from the try line by a good tackle from the opposition. That was the closest Letterkenny had got to scoring. As the first half went on the two sides battled away with Letterkenny making a lot of silly handling errors at crucial times putting themselves under pressure.
Going into the last minutes of the 1st half and Letterkenny still had nothing to show for all the time they had spent in the oppositions half.
A ruck formed on the right side of the pitch close to the line and with good rucking from Greg, Dean,Adam and Donnchadh the ball was quickly passed out from Keenan, Charlie and into Fabio who with blistering pace ran through the Coleraine defensive line and scored their first try.
Second half started the same Letterkenny dominating the first few minutes and with some good running and passing Conor McMenamin scores Letterkenny 2nd try. Coleraine started to play there game and with good hard tackles and good running they scored there first try and converted it.
As the second half went on both sides ran hard with the ball hard tackles from Adam, Matthew, Rory, James, Evan where put in, rucks and scrums where still being won by Letterkenny but they could not get close to a 3rd try.
Coleraine fought hard right to the end and where awarded a penalty 3 meters from Letterkenny's try line after a silly mistake by Letterkenny and they went in for a try on the last play of the half.
Letterkenny played a fantastic game but not taking there chances in the first half and scoring more cost them the game.
But they showed that they have come along way from were they where last season and things can only get better.
Player of the Match was Rory McGinty.
