The first frost of 2017.
A beautiful bright day beckoned.

Letterkenny Under 14s, headed down to the Dave Gallagher Park, Letterkenny, ready to meet their next challenge - Coleraine Under 14s. Coleraine kicks off, to start the game.
Coleraine were fired up, and from the off, they were determined to bring the game, to Letterkenny's door. While Coleraine looked strong and confident, Letterkenny looked sluggish, slow and sleepy. Letterkenny, with ball in the hand, managed to knock it on. From the scrum, Coleraine fed the ball out the back line, to the second centre, whom ran around our winger, and made the first try, of the match, in the corner.
No conversion, Coleraine ahead by five - nil.
Rory O'Connell kicked the re-start. Letterkenny flew at Coleraine, eventually overturning the ball, and driving up the field. After a number of phases of play, ( lock ) Oisin Farrell, burst the final few feet, and scored a try, in the corner.
Rory missed the conversion, the teams were tied, five - all.
With such a tight match, you could see the strain, on the teams. First-centre, Peter Sparks, knocked his knee, in a heavy tackle, and had to be replaced by his brother, David Sparks ( replacing Sparks for Sparks ). From the line-out, further down the field, Oisin Farrell showed his strength and drive, as he carried the ball over the try-line, for the second time.
Rory O'Connell converted the try.

Half time: Letterkenny 12 - Coleraine 5

Letterkenny made a small number of changes, at half time. There was a shuffle-around in the pack. David Henry replaced ( right wing ) Alex Wylde.
Letterkenny kicks off, to re-start the game. Coleraine were putting up a strong fight, moving forcefully up the field. Many heavy tackles and hard hits, were going in. David Henry ( winger ), put in a crucial try-saving tackle, and was injured, after only 15 minutes, in the second half. Replacement Callum Orsi came on.
A number of errors were creeping into the game, including quite a number of "ball handling" mistakes ( Things to work on, for next week. )
