U14s defeat Clogher Valley, in their first game of the plate competition.

Back to "Business-as-usual".
Letterkenny Under 14s find their feet, to produce a confident performance.

A dull and dark morning. On the back of two recent defeats, ( in the semi-final of the 'League' and the start of the 'Cup' competition ), Letterkenny's final chance at some silverware this season, resides in the plate competition.

Letterkenny kicked off, to start the match.
Clogher Valley, initially, ran the ball at Letterkenny. There was some, to-ing and fro-ing, between the teams. Letterkenny wanted to move the ball, out the backline, rather than previous tactics, of the forwards, going up the middle. Spinning the ball wide, paid early dividends when, after two phases of rucking, the ball moved through the backline, before getting into flyhalf, Kaymin Shortt's hands. He ran the last 20 metre's goosestepping the opposition, and scoring under the posts.
Kaymin converted his try.
A second try, came six minutes later, when second centre, Tiernan McFadden, broke through Clogher Valley defense, and forced his way, over the tryline. Kaymin converted the second try.

At this point, Letterkenny's confidence grew.
The team ran faster, forged forward, attacked more, and took the battle to the gates of Clogher Valley. Kaymin got his hands on the ball and there was no stopping him, from getting his second try.
From a further ruck, down our scoring end, lock, Lorcan Sweeney, scored after driving over the line.
Kaymin kicked his fourth successful conversion, and it was the end of the half.

Half Time : Letterkenny 28 - Clogher Valley 0

Clogher Valley kicked off, to restart the second half.
Letterkenny had made two changes, at half time ( bringing on prop, Jack Gibbons, for Jack Doherty, and scrumhalf, Alex Wylde, for Ben Hopkins. ) It had obviously, taken Clogher Valley, the first half to adjust to the Letterkenny climate, as they were a different team, in the second half. The teams were evenly matched, and it was Clogher Valley whom crossed the white wash, this time. They converted their try. Then they scored a second time, but couldn't convert that.
Letterkenny emptied their bench, and gave all their subs, an opportunity to play rugby.

In the final minute, Tiernan McFadden, ran with the ball, over 50 metres, for a titanic solo try, fending off a number of Clogher Valley tackles. Jack Gibbons conversion attempt, was unsuccessful.
