Letterkenny U14s travelled to Ballymoney with a strong squad of 26 players.
The game started with Letterkenny taking control in the forwards with excellent work by Shea McCarron and Charles Fulton taking the game to Ballymoney with some powerful runs. Ball presentation in the rucks was excellent and players in support - notably Jonathan Russell and Ben Gallagher rucked cleanly and quickly to ensure quality possession. The ball was recycled and then fed to the backs who ran for space and opened the game out with a first try for Lewis Mulligan after a beautiful skip pass from Seosamh Coyle. More scores followed as the Letterkenny backs scored tries through excellent and powerful running from captain Jarrod Arenhold, Johnathan Russell and Oisin McGuinness. Harry Shields and Connor Kenna controlled the the game well from half back both in defence and attack and the passing across the whole team was excellent. Jack Robinson made some excellent runs with superb feet and also some well timed passes and was rewarded with an excellent try.
The score quickly ramped up and Ballymoney conceded the game at 40-0 to allow the game to be evened up for the benefit of everyone. Players were lent and subs engaged and the remaining part of the fixture was even and competitive and the lads all player very well and gained lots of experience. Jed Lynch, Enda Boyce, Noah Johnston, Liam McCloskey and Aidan Keeney stood out in the forwards and Conal O'hEarain, Lewis Mulligan, Seosamh Kelly, Jim Spence, Diego Rossi, and Oran Kelly contributed well in the backs.
This squad is improving weekly due to high numbers at training and an impressive work ethic. With more matches to come, this squad has the potential to do well. Well done to all the players and the parents who supported from the touchline.
